[sticky post] Where to find me.

Happy Indy
Hello my friendly neighbourhood stalker! internet friend!

I thought I'd compile a list of where I am what.

Woot, I'm a working person now!

Contributing to society and all that jazz.
I'm very, very slowly getting used to getting up early again. To think that I got up at 6am every school day for four years (and for two and a half of those Saturday, too). *shakes head* Well, I was younger then. Definitely need more sleep now.;P
Incentive to get on earlier trains: Less teenagers. Gosh, the boys are so gossipy! (I mean I knew that but to hear strangers gossiping on the train is always interesting...;P)

Work is starting up slowly, as you can imagine. Monday was the short tour & intro by HR (the corridors are lettered in one direction and those running perpendicular are marked with numbers for orientation...)
and then I got a tour through our division by my immediate boss.(So many names and faces!) (Have I mentioned that I work in the food division in buying for a very prestigious department store?XD). Then there was the checking of logins and licenses and what not for the computer programs that I'll have to use. (Hello, IT department? Yes, it's us again.)
As most of the programs were not accessible to me yet I got a huge ass book on the history of Globus to read in the afternoon.;P

Tuesday morning continued with reading. C. (my boss) had a dentist appointment and arrived later. After that some light data mutation and upkeep and administrative tasks (I can fudge with every till in every restaurant & bar they own.XD)
Then I got my first little "project" Juggle some figures and make a nice graphic. Ah, numbers! But I did quite well (and was complimented on it =D Success!) I think I haven't really had to any economic math for 10 years or so...

I really like my coworkers. They're pretty laid back and funny and a great bunch to work with (yay!). I share an office with 4 others so that's quite nice. The food in the cantina is good and cheap and now I only need to buy a tea cup to keep at the office so I can fuel my habbit.;P

All in all: I'm happy!

Ok, that's it for now, I think.
Must dash.
DFTBA I love you all.

I win at life
  • So, I mentioned that Globus interview for an internship, right? That went very well. So well that come next January I have a job. Fucking finally! The pay (as far as I know -  no definite figures yet) isn't all that hot. about 1500.- (average for an internship is around 2000.- here.) I got the call this afternoon and put in some inquireies for very cheap apartments near the office. Wish me luck! Ugh. I so need to move out.;)
  • In a way I'm also kinda bummed because the animateur job would ahve been an awesome challenge. Ah well. I'll call them Monday to thank them and turn them down. Maybe I could do that later still. We'll see.
  • Incredibly enough I was only mildly nervous. As opposed to the wreck I would have been a year ago. Therapy definitely pays off.;D
  • You know how "they" always say that you should do things you've never done before? Widen your horizon, go outside of your comfort zone?
  • I did that. THere was an opportunity to do a tour as a guest guide for an exhibition where I volunteered. It was very interesting and quite fun! The theme of the exhibition was bridges - real and figurative - a topic that I'm interested in because on one hand I have experiences with cultural bridges from my studies and on the other hand, thanks to my brother (civil engineer) I have an avid interest in the aesthetic and engineering properties of bridges. There were three of us doing the tour and afterwards the older lady commented how extraordinary she found it for someone my age to speak so confidently publicly. Always nice to hear that I impressed someone.;D
  • I have a date for a haircut at the end of the month. My patience has run out. After 6 months of growing it out it has to go. It's touching my shoulders at the moment and it looks so boring if not downright unflattering. It's just so much easier for me to look effortlessly good with short hair. So off it goes.
  • The trip to Amsterdam I mentioned in an earlier post? Yeah. Change of plans: brother dearest and me will be heading to Edinburgh at the beginning of February. Which: Awesome!=D
  • Tomorrow I'm going to meet up with a bunch of friends to go to the Christmas market in town and then dinner at my place. And then there'll be the neverending Christmas entertaining. I'm already exhausted thinking about it.XD
  • Do y'all have your presesnts?
  • There was something else I wanted to talk about but completely forgot. Ah, whatever.
DFTBA, love you all!

Happy Indy
Everyone has things they blog about. Everyone has things they don't blog about. Challenge me out of my comfort zone by telling me something I don't blog about, but you'd like to hear about, and I'll write a post about it. Ask for anything: latest movie watched, last book read, favorite type of underwear, life experiences etc. Repost in your own journal so that we can all learn more about each other.

*waves shyly* Hi there?

House boings
  • First of all I love you all and I appreciate every single comment ever written and am sorry if I didn't respond to all of them!
  • Second: If I unfriended you on LJ it is because I have you on DW. I'm cutting down on my (ghostly) presence on LJ because my browser doesn't agree with the new flist.
  • I want to get better with journaling again. *fingers crossed*
  • I just confirmed a date for an interview for an internship in Buying with a luxury department store chain (Globus, the internship would be for the fine foods department.X)
  • Yeah, no idea what the internship would consist of. I guess I'll find out next Tuesday!
  • One of my main concern about the internship: will it pay enough that I can finally move out. Seriously. If it doesn't? I won't take it. I need to move out.
  • Though things at home are pretty good right now, actually.
  • If the internship doesn't pan out for whatever reason I do have a job for sure for next summer!!=DD
  • It'd be a job as an animateur for Thomas Cook, what it means is that I'd get paid to entertain kids in holiday resorts somewhere in the Meditarranean or the Balearic Islands. The pay isn't the greatest but considering food, living, insurance expenses are all paid: I can save every penny I earn.
  • I'm actually pretty thrilled about that opportunity!:)
  • I guess I'm doing pretty well at the moment. Looks like it's going up hill.;)

Just a little heads up.

If you noticed that I unfriended you on here it is only because I know that I have you over on Dreamwidth. With the newest change lj has made certain that it is too much of a pain to use for me to stay here. Even as little as that was the last year.
I will try to pick up the pace over on dw, though.
I will continue to crosspost but I can't promise to answer comments here as that feature doesn't work with my browser. (And I'm too lazy to troubleshoot, it wasn't a huge issue until now anyway.)
The endless scrolling is a buttheaded move as well. My browser crashes enough with tumblr doing that alone. Case in point it just crashed on me while writing this and I wasn't even on any trouble site (known to me at least).

With that: Know that I love you all but wish that all of you would definitely come over to Dreamwidth.

BTW, I'm prettyhairs over there as well.;)

Jul. 3rd, 2012

On a happy note: Tomorrow I will get up at ass o'clock to book tickets for a pre-screening of The Dark Knight Rises. Yeah, it's only 1 day early but there'll be free beer and prosecco.;P

Ah yes, about that....

I win at life
So I promised pictures of my de-coloured(?) hair...

Yes. I know I'm late.

Anyway. I was at the hair salon for 5 hours. FIVE FREAKING HOURS! But they did bring me free food. Which is highly excellent.

They had to apply the Magic-Off stuff twice to get the bright red down to a pretty muted orange. Then they did some highlights to liven it up and turn it from looking bland to looking kinda boring but also kinda ok.
I have to say, at first I did not like it. I guess it's because I'm used to pretty intense hair and going from that to the new look was very underwhelming.;P
But now that I've been living with it for some time I actually quite like it. It takes more time to style because anything resembling unstyled looks terrible. At the moment I style it kinda like a faux-hawk. And thank the lord for all the Japanese hair wax I still have. Seriously this stuff? Best ever.

After much blathering on:

Oh, and I was tempted to shave my head but I will put that off until I've moved out/it's not -10°C out anymore.;P

Playing catch up.

So ages and ages ago I did a list meme and I "got it back".

(This is how it goes:
Comment to this post asking for a list, and I will give you five things I associate with you. They might make sense or they might be totally random. Then post that list, with your commentary, to your LJ/DW (or just add a reply back at me). Other people (including me~) can get lists from you, and the meme merrily perpetuates itself.

From [profile] drarryxlover I got:
1. Uni.
What a bitch, ey?
2. Books.
Tell me more...
3. Memes.
4. Trains/Travel
I adore trains! And traveling. And traveling by train. When [profile] jezzerei came to visit me we went to Basel and the train from Zurich to Basel was a TGV*. Needless to say, I was very giddy and Jez was slightly mystified by my behaviour...
5. A week in the life of...
I could do that again sometimes soon. As soon as uni starts again, anyway. And as soon as something changes in my life that would make this actually interesting.;P

And another meme from [profile] drarryxlover:

You're on my Friends List. I want to know 35 things about you. I don't care if we never talk, or if we already know everything about each other. Short and sweet is fine ... You're on my list, so I want to know you better! Be honest! Copy from here and then answer in a comment. Then re-post the empty questions on your LJ.

01) Are you currently in a serious relationship?

02) What was your dream growing up?

03) What talent do you wish you had?

04) If I bought you a drink what would it be?

05) Favorite vegetable?

06) What was the last book you read?

07) What zodiac sign are you?

08) Any tattoos and/or piercings? Explain where.

09) Worst habit?

10) If you saw me walking down the street would you offer me a ride?

11) What is your favorite sport?

12) Do you have a pessimistic or optimistic attitude?

13) What would you do if you were stuck in an elevator with me?

14) Worst thing to ever happen to you?

15) Tell me one weird fact about you.

16) Do you have any pets?

17) What if I showed up at your house unexpectedly?

18) What was your first impression of me?

19) Do you think clowns are cute or scary?

20) If you could change one thing about how you look, what would it be?

21) Would you be my crime partner or my conscience?

22) What eye colour do you have?

23) Ever been arrested?

24) Bottle or can soda?

25) If you won $10,000 today, what would you do with it?

26) What's your favorite place to hang out?

27) Do you believe in ghosts?

28) Favorite thing to do in your spare time?

29) Do you swear a lot?

30) Biggest pet peeve?

31) In one word, how would you describe yourself?

32) Do you believe/appreciate romance?

33) Favorite and least favorite food?

34) Do you believe in God/Higher Power?

35) Will you repost this so I can fill it out and do the same for you?

*TGV: Train Grande Vitesse. France's high velocity train, connects Zurich with Paris, amongst other destinations.

So I got my hair cut today. It really was getting ridiculously long. I am very amazed at how well the red still looks, usually red fades out way more, especially considering that I didn't even use shampoo for coloured hair.

And this:

Well, I'd have to call this the Between.

Because my hairdresser thought that my hair looks impossible with roots and coloured hair mixed up like that. I didn't get into that though and she went on about what she'd do with it and how it'd be cool if I came in as a model again to which I obviously said she could ring me up to be a model any day, any time because free hair cuts and colouring? Yes.

So I'll be going back next Tuesday so one of her underlings can try this new "Magic Off" thingy they have to un-colour hair. It's based on the acidic qualities of lemon juice and supposed to be better for your hair than the usual oxidising products used. And then we'll see what happens with the red and where we'll go from there. I completely trust my hairdresser so she can do what she wants. It'll grow out anyway.

AND I just read this article and now I'm very, very tempted to shave it all off. We'll see how it goes next Tuesday.;D

DFTBA and I'll keep you posted.=D

Why SOPA is dangerous
To Sum Up
  • Gives the government the right to unilaterally censor foreign websites.
  • Gives copyright holders the right to issue economic takedowns and bring lawsuits against website owners and operators, if those websites have features that make it possible to post infringing content. [A comment feature is enough.]
  • Makes it a felony offense to post a copyrighted song or video.

This bill turns us all into criminals. If it passes, then you either stop using the Internet, or you simply hope that you never end up in the crosshairs, because if you’re targeted, you will be destroyed by this bill. You don’t have to be a big, mean, nasty criminal — common Internet usage is effectively criminalized under this law. This bill will kill American innovation and development of the Internet, as it will become too risky to do anything of value. It is toxic and dangerous, and should not, under any circumstances, be supported.

Oh, look, it's a meme. How novel.

God's word

Ok so here's what I got from [personal profile] lokifan:
1. Harry/Draco
- What got me involved in lj, fandom, internet and basically all that is good on the intertubes. My rabbit hole, so to speak. Still very occasionally read it.
2. Japan
- OH GOSH. YES. Not much to add to that;)
3. Uni is hard (and I empathise SO much!)
- It's especially hard on my psyche;P
4. Fantasy books
- Yes. Give me them. I prefer urban fantasy most of the time because high fantasy novels (especially series-es) can be a bit too convoluted character and plotwise. Actually, give me all the books. But I do seem to read mostly fantasy lately.
5. Switzerland
- Mountains, cheese and chocolate. Gorgeous little speck on the map that will always be my home *cue sappy mcsappyness*

Any takers?

Die Welt liegt uns zu Füssen,
denn wir stehen drauf
wir gehen drauf
für ein Leben voller Schall und Rauch.
Bevor wir fallen,
fallen wir lieber auf.

I have been very absent on dw/lj for quite some time and I apologize for that. I do hope someone missed me.;P

What's new? Well, I have a tumblr now. Actually as of right now I have two. The first, HugoAlexanderTimothyCartwright is just a random pile of Fandom, pretty pictures and sometimes a rant or two. Occasionally even RL stuff.

The second, Leben voller Schall und Rauch is to be a self indulgent little styleblog about (mostly) my own fashion escapades. Just a little thing to amuse the little hipster inside.;P
I'm currently still fiddling with theme and html but posts should go up soon:)

Tumblring is just so effortless with that one click reblog, easy photo-upload stuff. It's just enabling my laziness further.

I promise to try to be better on lj/dw, though.

Now on to the meat of this post...Collapse )

Peace out, DFTBA.

It's a meme! Stolen from drarryxlover

Gakkt from baka_yu

Can't you imagine a room without books? Are you also one of those people who, like us, when entering a flat you've never been in before, strides towards the bookshelves to take a look at them? And then spend the whole evening talking about this or that book and exchanging recommendations? And isn't it terrible, that there you'll never have a chance to take a look at the bookshelves of your LJ friends? Well, at least you could give them a chance to look at yours ...

All ye who enter here be warned: Here be large pictures. And draongs, don't forget the dragons.Collapse )

I'm a horrible person. Also: memetime.

Ages and ages and AGES ago lokifan did this meme and chose 5 icons of mine. And now I'm finally answering.

1. Reply to this post with “CONVERSE”, and I will pick five of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.

If you want you can still play:)

Boogie! Not much to say to this one, I just adore the combination of police uniform with some truly impressive dance moves=)

Ah, yes. This combines quite a few themes in one icon for me. First: the sheer ridiculousness of the institution of the church. Second: It's hilarious. Third: Always read in the original language, if you can.

Hm... I'm pretty sure this is a Douglas Adams quote, ok, just googled it, it is. I frankly adore Douglas Adams. I've read almost everything he wrote. And this icon is so very expressive while still playing it very cool;)

This is easy, too. I adore books and this is one fine icon to express this love:)

Oh yes, he does. As Hugh Laurie or as Dr. House. But, to be honest, so do I. Sometimes, when I'm not failing at life. At which point this icon would still be relevant;)

Hm, I hope this satisfied your curiosity. And I apologize that it took me so bloody long, especially after nagging you about the meme! *goes to stand in the corner*

This is not a real entry
